10 STEP SKINCARE ROUTINE AND RECOMMENDATIONS FOR OILY SKIN
Have you heard a lot about the 10-step skincare routine that everyone has been talking about? If you have time to stick to the daily routine, we really recommend that you try, because it really does make a difference in your skin (trust me, I know first-hand how much of an improvement can be made!). We’ve listed the 10 steps below and our recommendations for each step!

Banila Co

We know, we know – you already have oily skin, why would you want to add more oil? Oil cleansers, unlike water-based cleansers are better able to dissolve oil-based impurities like SPF, makeup, sebums and pollutants without leaving an oily residue like you may think. This Banila Co Clean It Zero cleanser has been very popular and does a great job at removing even waterproof makeup.

Exfoliating your skin will help with uneven textures and bumpiness on your skin, helping your makeup apply flawlessly in the morning. Instead of using a physical exfoliant that contain irregular particles that scrub at your skin, potentially damaging and causing micro tears to your skin, we recommend using a chemical exfoliant (much easier on the skin).
This Paula’s Choice AHA exfoliant will aid in cell turnover, which will get rid of the dead, unwanted skin cells. Please remember to apply sunscreen if you start using a chemical exfoliant. If you have sensitive skin, or are new to exfoliating, we recommend starting off with exfoliating only once a week!

A toner offers a light layer of moisture meant to regulate your pH and soften your skin. For me, the toner used with a cotton pad also ensures that all the leftover makeup and dirt has been removed from my face (you will be able to see makeup on the cotton pad if there’s still any left over). We recommend finding a toner WITHOUT alcohol like this great Klairs toner.

Fresh

In the 10-step skincare routine, it’s all about layering products. The key is to layer thinner products first so they can easily absorb into the skin, and then layering on thicker products. This will ensure your pores don’t get clogged and you get maximum hydration and moisture for your skin. With oily skin, hydration is still very important. If your skin is dehydrated, it will produce even more oil.

Sheet masks really help your skin fully absorb all the nutrients after prolonged wear. You can wear the mask for 15-20 minutes, then remove and pat the residual essence into your skin. This Dr. Jart+ Calming Mask will sooth skin and relieve any redness or irritation.

Kiehl’s
$38.99
The skin around your eyes is the thinnest and most delicate skin throughout your body. It’s important to find a good, gentle, and non-irritating eye cream that will help prevent dark circles and wrinkles in that area. This Kiehl’s creamy eye cream is a great option for all skin types!

Clinique$14.50

Having a good moisturizer is a key factor to having healthy looking skin. For oily skin types, we would recommend staying away from heavy, thick creams/moisturizers that could cog your pores. A light, gel cleanser will be your best bet for getting enough moisture into your skin. This Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel has been very popular for many years now, and is formulated perfectly for combination to oily skin!
